Tracking in Education

First of all I agree with tacking in high school system. I never have experienced about tracking in my K-12. Education policy in Korea that it pursues the equality opportunity in education. Even if I graduate private school, there is any difference between private school and public school. We go to high school as lottery system. Basically we can’t go to high school where we want to go. So between the students in my class, there are a lot of academic level differences. For instance, one of my friends he got 2nd prize from world math competition, however he had to take same class with everyone in the school. Teacher has to follow the policy of department of education. They can’t teach outside of range in textbook. This one side education makes teacher lose their passion for their teaching. Also students don’t pay attention in class include myself, they already learn from private tutor. Because public education lost its faith from people.
I know we pursue equality in education, however I believe propel level studying depends on their academic status is more effective way. Everyone has their own dream and achieving those dreams has their own way to get.

Study Abroad

I am a native of South Korea which is where I completed my primary and secondary education. Therefore, sometime it is hard to understand the current issues which occur in high school. Even though I went schools as different culture, there exist some common problems wherever you are involved with. Last Thursday I could see lot’s of issues that people think them serious. The issue that I really want to deal with is the lack of teacher attention. I believe this is the common issue in all ages and countries.
The stem is from interesting. People tend to do more effectively to what they are interested with. We took lots of classes which we don’t really like to learn. My favorite courses have always been physics and mathematics because I found them to be fascinating. So I decided to study Engineering major. I was really pleased with taking physics and mathematics classes in my school days. However, my worst part in studying was writing. It was a nightmare that I am taking some literature classes in high school. I used to sleep in the class and even pay attention anything with my literature teacher. I went so far as to absent some classes. Some people claim the subjects which you hate to deal with are also important because of it comes from education for the whole man. I understand what they want to insist, however I have some different opinions. People who want to be a musician, they don’t really need to chemistry for their career. The mathematics is useless for painter.
Most of people in this class have own major in university. Apparently there will be existed someone who are interested with your major in high school. Why don’t we go to high school near the Berkeley and discuss with them for assisting. Although it won’t be perfect, at least we could answer their some questions and sharing specific stories with them.

Democratic community

I believe the less attendance makes our democratic community weaker. We all vote our nations president by election. What if only few people discussed and elected our representative by themselves? It won’t be democratic society. Participation is one of the most important points to make our democratic community. Actually most of classes I ever taken in Berkeley, I believe that the rate of attendance is less than 70 percents. I also didn’t attend my class sometimes. If we check our attendance by grading affect, the rate of attendance will be better than now. Some classes I went at every class, and some I went a few times in a month. Why does my behavior like this? In case, the class is helpful for me, my attendance is good, unless it is getting bad as class goes by.
